Police: Mom makes child jump from window at gunpoint

PETERSBURG, Fla. — A young boy was rushed to the hospital after police say his mother forced him to jump out of a second-story window at gunpoint.Police say officers were called to the home Thursday morning after receiving a 911 call from 32-year-old Michelle Vail, who said her ex-boyfriend was outside her home and trying to get in.When officers arrived they found no one suspicious, but the woman told them she didn't believe they were really the police.As the officers began to leave the property, they heard glass breaking. That's when they saw Vail, armed with a shotgun, smashing the second-floor window. The next thing they know, her 8-year-old boy was jumping out the window, and she jumped right afterward, landing on top of him.Both have been taken to local hospitals, and their conditions are still being evaluated.
