Jokowi bawa isu sempadan, tenaga kerja

Ketua misi Indonesia di Malaysia berkata, presidennya Joko Widodo akan antara lainnya akan menumpukan isu ekonomi dan kawalan sempadan dalam perbincangan dengan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.Timbalan Duta Besar Indonesia ke Malaysia, Hermono berkata, perbincangan berkenaan juga akan menumpukan kepada usaha untuk memudahkan urusan penghantaran tenaga kerja ke Malaysia.

“Isu lebih kepada (cara) meningkatkan kegiatan ekonomi, ada isu yang mendapat perhatian bersama mengenai warga asing, sempadan. Tiga isu ini akan menjadi fokus,” katanya ketika dihubungi MalaysiakiniJelasnya, rundingan pembatasan maritim antara Malaysia dan Indonesia itu melibatkan Selat Melaka, Laut Sulawesi and Laut China Selatan.Tambahnya lagi, oleh kerana ini kunjungan pertama selepas Joko Widodo menjadi Presiden, isu tersebut akan dibincangkan namun tidak akan dibahas secara terperinci.Katanya lagi, Jokowi akan turut melawat kilang Proton di Shah Alam bagi merealisasikan rancangan republik itu untuk mengeluarkan kereta berdasarkan teknologi syarikat Malaysia itu.

Hermono yang menjawat jawatan tersebut sejak November 2013 mengharapkan kunjungan Jokowi dapat mengeratkan lagi hubungan kedua-dua negara ke tahap yang lebih baik serta masalah berbangkit dapat diselesaikan.Presiden Indonesia, Joko Widodo tiba di Kuala Lumpur petang ini bagi memulakan lawatan tiga harinya ke Malaysia hari ini untuk meningkatkan hubungan dua hala kedua-dua negara.Sebaik tiba, Joko Widodo dan isteri, Iriana Joko Widodo serta beberapa menteri Kabinet dan pegawai kanan Indonesia disambut oleh Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak dan isteri, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.Kunjungan itu dilihat penting ketika timbul isu yang menguji hubungan kedua-dua negara.Post by Malaysiakini (BM Version).

No objection from Sarawak PAS as deadline on redelineation passes

The proposed changes in Sarawak's redelineation exercise would see 11 more state seats. – Bersih 2.0 pic, February 4, 2015.Sarawak PAS is the only opposition party to have missed the deadline to file any objection against the Election Commission's proposed redelineation of the state's electoral map.The party met last Saturday, a mere five days to the 4.30pm deadline of submission today, to scrutinise the EC's proposal and piece together their objections.PAS state commissioner Adam Ahid, when contacted today, said that they had planned to file an objection on how the electoral boundary to the Sadong Jaya state seat was drawn but could not find the 100 voters needed to validify the objection.The support of 100 voters in the constituency is a mandatory requirement.“I was told they are still trying to gather the 100 signatures. I'm not too certain if they had succeeded," he said.The proposed redelineation would create 11 more state seats in Sarawak's 71-seat state legislative assembly.At 3pm, just an hour and half to the deadline, there were no signs of any PAS representatives at the EC office at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar in Simpang Tiga.However, Ahid is not too bothered over the failure.“Filing the objection could be an exercise of futility.“It's akin to a dog barking a mountain," he said.Ahid said PAS had over the years made numerous complaints to the EC, particularly during elections on alleged irregularities by the Barisan Nasional, and “all these complaints fell on deaf ears".“They didn't bother doing anything. What makes this (filing the objection) any different?" he asked.Ahid, however, said PAS would support the objections from PKR and DAP, part of the state's troubled Pakatan Rakyat coalition.DAP yesterday submitted five objections to the EC, while PKR submitted 11 today.PKR state vice-chairman, Krian assemblyman Ali Biju, and women national vice-chairperson Voon Shiak Nee, led the party's entourage.Among the BN parties, only the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) made the submissions.The small opposition party not aligned to any political blocs, the Sarawak People's Party (SWP), reportedly also filed its objection over the seat they have the most interest, Pelagus, where its president Larry Sng plans to stand.Yesterday, DAP state chairman Chong Chieng Jen warned the EC they could face “a lot of court actions from the opposition" if they continue “to play the role of the 14th BN party" and unreasonably reject their objections and recommendations.One common objection raised by most parties is the rationale of EC's thinking and reasoning why some constituencies have twice or three times more voters than the adjacent constituency.“We have a situation of a seat with 6,340 voters and another seat with 31,388 voters. And they are next to one another," SUPP secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting said.“Why the heavy imbalance?“If it's in other areas, maybe we can understand but in constituencies next to one another, that we cannot understand the reason," Ting said.Ting also said in SUPP's submission, the party stated the “delineation exercise appears to be favouring one ethnic group".“We say this should not be the case."He also said the whole exercise “appears to be racially tainted" and there was gerrymandering.As at 3pm, the EC had received a total of 56 objections. – February 4, 2015.

I think their problems should be resolved with the help of people outside MIC. If it's to be done among them, they will never reach an agreement... this had happened before."Mahathir said this when asked by reporters to comment on the MIC crisis after placing a plaque at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia as a national heritage in Kuala Lumpur today.On whether he would agree if asked to be a mediator, Dr Mahathir said: "I am not a politician anymore. I am only a critic."

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was suitable to be mediator in resolving the MIC crisis.The internal crisis came about after the Registrar of Societies (RoS) declared as null and void the election for the party's three vice-presidents and 23 Central Working Committee (CWC) members at the MIC general assembly in Malacca in November 2013.In its letter dated December 5, 2014, RoS ordered MIC to hold re-elections for these posts within 90 days. – Bernama, February 4, 2015.
